Editing

Editing lies at the heart of film storytelling. Editors choose and order the shots that we see to give the film its precise structure and shape. They help set up questions, make connections, develop visual symbolism, present arguments and generate meaning.

In this tutorial you will learn:

  • The different functions of editing;
  • The various types of transitions, and what they mean;
  • How shots are put together to create filmic sequences or paragraphs.
